Žminj

Žminj is the seat of the municipality of the same name, located in the heart of Istria.

A place rich in history, once surrounded by walls, today it offers its guests plenty of entertainment within a variety of events, and that is why it is a favorite destination among families as well as among those who want to get acquainted with the tradition and culture of the region they are visiting.
Since ancient times, it was an important traffic hub because it connected the entire Istrian peninsula.
Half an hour or more is enough to arrive at main coastal places of Western, Southern or Eastern Istria - Rovinj, Pula, Rabac ...
As a historical town, Žminj has its medieval core, churches painted with frescoes, remains of city walls and towers.
Traditionally, every last Saturday in August is held Bartulja, the largest folk festival that Istrians and their guests do not miss.
Part of the fefstival is also a fair where, besides the stock market, there are also vegetables from domestic breeding, homemade cheese, wines, Istrian souvenirs, clothing and footwear, children's toys... Various sports competitions, performances of folklore societies and concerts are also organized.
Near the Žminj is the cave The kingdom of Festini with impressive interior views - wonderful dripstone forms, among which it is easy to recognize 'the magician's hat', 'Tower of Babylon' and huge 'bat wings' strangely covered with grapevine that gets its water from the bottom of the cave.
